What Is Cleaning For A Reason?
Cleaning For A Reason is a nonprofit organization that provides free house cleaning services to patients battling cancer. It supports those recovering from surgery, in active treatment, and even those in hospice care, allowing them to focus on their health and spending valuable time with loved ones.
Since its founding in 2006, Cleaning For A Reason has donated nearly $16 million in cleaning services to over 47,000 patients across The United States and Canada. They also have over 1,200 cleaning partners, including us!
“Cleaning for a Reason is an important part of our support and care network. Cleaning is the last thing you have time to think about when someone in your family is battling cancer, but it’s a critical need for recovery. We’re so grateful for the gift of a clean, healthy, and safe home while my son battles leukemia,” said Jack on the Cleaning For A Reason website.
Why Is Cleaning Important For Patients?
Besides the fact that no one should have to worry about cleaning when they or someone they love is battling cancer, a clean home is actually an aid in the recovery process. Ensuring the home is clean and free from bacteria, mold, and air pollutants helps give a recovering immune system the time it needs to build back up its strength.

How To Get Involved
If you happen to run a cleaning company of your own, they’re always looking for new partners to join the cause! You’ll be giving back to the community, making a difference in people’s lives, and inspiring and motivating your team. They even have free social media templates, so you can spread the word and leverage some cause marketing!
For individuals, donations are always welcome, but there is actually another really cool way you can help: fundraiser in a box! If you want to host your own fundraising event, like a charity walk, silent auction, and more, you can reach out to receive a “Fundraiser in a box” with everything you’ll need.
Finally, cancer centres can also partner up so their patients know that free cleaning services are available to them.
If you know someone who would benefit from this service, head over to the patients page to apply. You can apply for yourself or someone you know, and they can receive two free house cleanings (one a month, for two months).
